ONE OF THREE PROPOSALS FOR "A STUDY ON LINE, PLANE & VOLUME"

ARCHITECTURE DESIGN THESIS, UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO 

INSPIRED BY THE MECHANICS OF WINDOW SHUTTERS, MONITORING ADOPT THAT LANGUAGE TO SCULPT OUT A VISUAL HIERARCHY BETWEEN THE SEVEN ENCLOSED SPACES AND THE MIDDLE PASSAGEWAY. 

 

AS AN ALTERNATIVE VERSION OF THE PANOPTICON, SPECTATORS MOVING THROUGH THE ARCHITECTURE COULD ARCHIVE A DOMINATING POSITION OVER THE SUBJECTS IN CONFINEMENT.
